Pinelands High School is a public school situated in Forest Drive, Pinelands in the city of Cape Town, South Africa. It was opened in July 1952 and the founding principal was Mr Jack Kent. The school now has about 950 students. In 2004, the school provided filming locations for the motion picture ''Ask the Dust'', with the sets built to simulate Los Angeles in the 1930s.〔Charlotte Otter and Gert-Jaap Hoekman, ("Hayek and Farrell in love - with Cape Town" ), ''Independent Online'', June 10, 2004.〕 The school originally had a House System, which was scrapped some years after its formation. The school is now planning on re-introducing to house system through the Representative Council of Learners. There have been negative to mixed reactions from students in this regard. Instituted in 1952, the school celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2012.
